Symantec, where good apps go to die

This is an actual response from a Symantec employee on the moronic removal of the central inbox or all folders view, the only reason I bought this app to use. Again, apologies. Unfortunately this was a case of not knowing what our users are really using the product for. Since it is not practical to run a beta for iOS applications with the larger user community, we could not really gauge the critical nature of a feature such as All Folders. Had we a way to do that, we probably could have avoided this. Had we noticed any positively reinforcing reviews/comments from users about how they purchased the product for this one feature, we could have avoided this. However, our teams are working hard to ensure these are reinstated (we will be submitting early next week if all goes well).

0 stars

This should be 0 stars. Symantec killed a great app now its just an expensive basic email app.

Horrific Changes After Symantec Update

As a devout Touchdown user for nearly four years, the changes made to this application following acquisition by Symantec have resulted in a user interface that is completely inappropriate for mobile environments, synchronization that well, doesnt, and reduced user changeable settings. This review is being written just before I delete the app. If you only read this far, your money is best spent elsewhere. And now, the specifics. The user interface: One of the great features of the NitroDesk versions of Touchdown was the ability to quickly and efficiently expand sub-folders within your inbox and move messages without having to scroll through an entire folder hierarchy like you do in iOS Mail. The latest update still has that ability; however, the carrot to click and expand a folder is so small, even the most delicate touch with skinny fingers often results in messages being moved to an unintended folder. Generally, most aspects of the UI gave been graphically changed as to make them inappropriately small for iPhone usage. Synchronization: In the interest of fairness, synchronization and message pushes in the background were troubled features of Touchdown since its iOS debut. Now, its worse. Email push in the background works sporadically, and I have found no way to adjust the frequency. Even with the app open, you often have to manually sync several times before the litany of email you didnt know you had shows up in the inbox. In closing: This review was written on May 24, 2015. Without significant improvement to this garbage update, I will never be a Touchdown user again.

Swype not working

Update, Swype is now working, thank you!. Using Swype to write this review but it does not work now in this new release, what the heck!. Would like the old version back as it was near perfect.

My experience

I bought this app a while ago and never actually used it much. It was very buggy. I decided to give it another try on this version. Unfortunately I cant open it for more than a few seconds before it crashes post account setup. Its completely random. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but doesnt work. Please spend more time testing before releasing your app. Oh and this is on a brand new iPhone 6.

Thank you!!

Back up to 4 stars, thank you for adding "all folders" back in. Works great with my work email.

Terrible app now

This mail application was good (not great) originally, but since Symantec reworked it, it is not usable anymore. Doing simple tasks requires multiple taps. They also got rid of the ability to customize the font in your signature. Worst of all, you cannot move to next/previous email when youre already looking at one. Do not buy this app.

v8.0.1 improves v8.0.0

v8.0.1 *PROS* -fast -emails can be bulk edited with flags, read/unread, move, & delete options -inbox filters include options to view all, read/unread, flagged, attachments, categories, etc. -when viewing inbox filtered as unread, each opened email is auto marked as read *CONS* -no shortcut button for forwarding email -no theme options (light orange is difficult to see in brightly lighted environments -long category names cannot be read in portrait mode (please include swipe scrolling when text exceeds their margins) -no autoBCC (option available in pre-Symantec versions) -cannot set number of preview lines for inbox (option available in pre-Symantec versions) -no font customization -cannot create new folders when moving an email v8.0.0 *PROS* -fast *CONS* *previous features removed* -no bulk editing -no inbox filters -cant read long category names in portrait mode -auto mark read -auto bcc -number of preview lines

Zero usefulness now

Its never a good sign when Symantec takes over. If I could give this app zero stars I would. Nitro desk makes good products unfortunately Symantec ruined this one. Only 8 reviews. Not a coincidence. App is horrible I am switching to MS native now

Great app to stay connected to email

I really like this app. I have had it for a few years now. When they were bought out the notes feature went away and I use that all the time. That was the whole reason I bought the app a few years ago. They told me it was coming back in a later update. I kept waiting and it never came back. Well today I deleted it and reinstalled and the app now again has the notes feature. Thank you I really appreciate you bring it back because there are not allot of mail apps that also includes the notes feature in Outlook.

Alerts and sync dont work.

As the other review states, the app doesnt sync until the app in opened. This means checking my phone more often than id like. Waste of money.

Better alerts please

It does not make use of longer or louder alerts or vibration so you are aware of new email. This is Extremely annoying. Please fix this.

Jan 15 2016 update causes email body to disappear

The new update has caused the email body text to disappear. I get emails with headers, but with blank bodies.

Congratulations

I think this was a great Improvement over version 3.x which I purchased but didnt use as it was not what I needed as far as app design. I have a couple of questions and future requests. 1.) background data sync does not really happen. My emails load usually after I load the app and wait a couple of seconds. About 10. Wish list 1.) be able to move between previous and next emails while reading a message instead of having to go back to main menu. 2.) when moving mail to folders after you search for a folder keep the most frequently used folders on the top of the list. 3.) be able to sync multiple accounts for active sync and Imap. 4.) add more detail and options to mark as read or delete emails from the iPhone notification drop down menu. 5.) automatically download attachments on email option. I congratulate the team on a great move forward. Keep up the good work. New version deletes my account. I add it again and after a day it gets deleted and asks me to setup account again.

Jan 2016 update

I am totally frustrated. Each time I open the application, all settings are lost. Trying to reinstall.

Worse and worse... Great If You Like Symantecs Yellow

New review for 8.04: More crap. Opened up the app today to find myself staring at a new account setup screen. Symantec obviously has little to no interest in improving the product. Old review:No longer syncs after update to 8.0.3. New interface, but removed themes. Youre forced into using the ugly yellow on all but the calendar screens.

Update Breaks App, Doesnt Remember Settings

Ive had to re-enter server settings multiple times so far, finally just deleted and re-installed entire app. Im a heavy user and am quite disappointed at how unstable this has become over the last few months/weeks in particular.

ACCOUNT SETTINGS WIPED

The recent update wipes out my account settings. Ive had to reenter the settings twice today. NG!

Unable to use product

After this last update I can no longer view content of emails, AND every morning my account needs to be reconfigured. Absolutely ridiculous! I want my money back!

Used to work

Used to work, but doesnt anymore. App forgets account info a lot and also will show many emails as blank.
