As a devout Touchdown user for nearly four years, the changes made to this application following acquisition by Symantec have resulted in a user interface that is completely inappropriate for mobile environments, synchronization that well, doesnt, and reduced user changeable settings. This review is being written just before I delete the app. If you only read this far, your money is best spent elsewhere.
And now, the specifics.
The user interface:
One of the great features of the NitroDesk versions of Touchdown was the ability to quickly and efficiently expand sub-folders within your inbox and move messages without having to scroll through an entire folder hierarchy like you do in iOS Mail. The latest update still has that ability; however, the carrot to click and expand a folder is so small, even the most delicate touch with skinny fingers often results in messages being moved to an unintended folder. Generally, most aspects of the UI gave been graphically changed as to make them inappropriately small for iPhone usage.
Synchronization:
In the interest of fairness, synchronization and message pushes in the background were troubled features of Touchdown since its iOS debut. Now, its worse.
Email push in the background works sporadically, and I have found no way to adjust the frequency. Even with the app open, you often have to manually sync several times before the litany of email you didnt know you had shows up in the inbox.
In closing:
This review was written on May 24, 2015. Without significant improvement to this garbage update, I will never be a Touchdown user again.
